Yeeeeowww!! I could not be happier to share that I had the opportunity to create a pair of posters for the one and only DFB! That stands for David F*CKING Byrne!
For this project, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the legendary Globe Collection and Press at MICA—a poster institution that has been cranking out letterpress event posters since the 1960’s. Even if you didn’t know who made it, chances are you’ve seen a Globe poster before. Their large woodcut type and dayglo colors are truly unmistakable.
In paying homage to the poster artisans that came before me, I completed this project using a 100% analog process. The layers for the screenprint were hand-cut from rubylith stencils, a practice that predates Photoshop and the digital tools we printmakers use today. From there, the first two layers were hand-printed by Globe’s manager (hi Allison!!) and me, and then the final layer of type was printed using a Vandercook letterpress.
Collaborative print with Globe Press and Collection at MICA—the legends!
3 layer mixed media print—letterpress & screenprint!
18×24! Signed and numbered editions!
Blue variants are printed on a beautiful Opal Stardream, and the red variants are printed on a striking Gold Stardream
Please note! If you place multiple orders at the same time, I will go through automatically and combine your shipments and refund you the extra shipping costs.
