Hello all you ghosts, goblins, gremlins, and ghouls of unimaginable fright… It’s been four years coming, and I could not be happier to share some new work for the unstoppable Billy Strings. The band is bringing a monster mash like no other to my hometown of Baltimore this weekend, it’s gonna be a freakin’ hoot and a half. I am so stoked that I got to do this poster! Hell yeah!!!!
The theme this year is Universal Monsters; it was a real treat to take a whack at some icons that are over a hundred years old—and so deeply embedded in our cultural lexicon. Throughout working on this poster, Grace and I watched through over a dozen of these horror movies from the 30s and 50s, feels like I have been living in the world of this poster for the last month. Can’t stop thinking about Boris Karloff in the Mummy. Can’t stop thinking about how good the Dracula book was. The inflatable Frankenstein lawn decorations really got me lookin’ twice this year.
If you’re in beautiful Baltimore for the shows, I’ll be doing a poster signing TODAY at the merch pop-up outside CFG Bank Arena from 12-4. If you’re not at the shows, I’ll have some AP sets for sale Monday at noon EST. Additionally—be sure to swing by Union Craft Brewing’s Creekside Meetup tomorrow, I’ll be set up there alongside other vendors slingin’ prints and sippin’ pints. Gonna be a great weekend. Kinda feels like Christmas today. Nightmare Before Christmas theme next year???
